A New Theme Every Anniversary

Every October, Fosetter celebrates its anniversary. Carmen, who owns the shop, explains why the place looks different every year.

Every year on October 25 it's our anniversary, the shop's anniversary. So we bring out some special-price products, or some especially good ones. And we're about to change again soon. It's time to change the products again.

New stock, and a new theme

It isn't only new goods going on the shelves. A new theme goes up too.

The first year, ours was Cantonese herbal tea. The second year, we went back to a Chinese summer of the seventies and eighties, and we sold other things.

This year we want to celebrate our ethnic cultures, so we brought in some clothing from China's ethnic minorities.

Next year, we'll be ready to do something on American ginseng, a bit like a museum. Some American ginseng products, and the story of how we started our business, will all be on display.

So every year is different. The setting helps us.

People come to take photos

That's exactly the effect we want. We get a lot of foot traffic now, and people come here to take pictures, because there are very few places around here anymore with this kind of Chinese-style setting.
